How can I find a local gaming group?

Be it for Warhammer or D&D, there are numerous ways to get in contact with a local gaming group, as we are sure there is one in your driving area.

  • Try the Yellow Pages, or yellow pages online. Local "brick and mortar" Hobby Shops and Gaming stores will invariably have a bulletin board for gamers looking for people to join their groups. Some have their own clubs or even on-line forums, and many sponsor gaming times within their stores. The great part about this is that you can network and find multiple types of games, but also buy all of your gaming supplies there! Support your local hobby shop!
  • Check the on-line message board for the specific game you wish to play. Many manufacturer's web sites will feature a message board or forum community. Most commonly, there will be a plethora of posts from people looking for groups or players in a given local area. If your favorite game's manufacturer does not host a forum on their site, it is not uncommon that there will be an unofficial website with a message board or forum serving this same purpose. For example, EnWorld is a very popular message board for Dungeons & Dragons players.
  • Check on-line. Google search for "gaming group ________" (enter your city, region or state). With a few minutes of searching you should be able to find a thread from a local gamer or even a forum from a local group!
  • Check social meeting sites such as Yahoo Groups or MeetUp. There are many websites designed to get people together that share a common interest. You may find a group already in your area, or you could always consider starting one!
