What is LOTR - Lord of the Rings?
Games Workshop now holds the global license from New Line Cinema, the makers of Peter Jackson's Academy award winning Lord of the Rings film trilogy, and have created a tabletop war game based on those movies. Although people familiar with the Warhammer and other Games Workshop games will have no problem following the similar system and rules, Lord of the Rings brings a new, dark and thrilling battle to the tabletop based on with J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth.
As with Warhammer games, each player collects The Lord of The Rings miniatures and fights epic battles against their fellow generals, using similar dice and tape-measure rules to decide the outcome. However, unlike Warhammer, these miniatures are based on the Elves, Dwarves and Men that fight the perpetual struggle versus the forces of the Dark Lord Sauron. Familiar characters, such as those in the Fellowship of the Ring, Gandalf the Grey, Galadriel, and even Saruman are amongst the miniatures available. Even Giant Eagles, the War Mumak of Harad, Ents, and even the most dangerous monsters like the notorious Balrog.
The Lord of the Rings forces include; Gondor and Arnor, The Kingdom of Rohan, The Elven Kingdoms, The Dwarf holds, The Forgotten Kingdoms, Mordor, The Fortress of Isengard, The Misty Mountains, The Fallen Realms, and Angmar.
You can become part of the struggle on Middle Earth with your favorite heroes or anti-heroes. As with other Games Workshop games, choose a side, good or evil, choose an army, and begin collecting the LOTR miniatures for your game.
